GAV Industries - Copyright

Copyright is the protection of one's intellectual property from those who wish to profit from their success by stealing and infringing on their rights. Copyright is a measure of how transformative the alleged copy is over the original and whether the supposed thief needs to compensate the accuser for stealing.

A reoccurring issue with the mobile market of the games industry is how so many popular, trending titles are replicated using stolen assets and accessible game engines such as Unity alongside false advertising to produce these low-quality clones with clickbait titles. These game "developers" prey on the mobile gamers who can't afford a console or PC with an alternative that's chocked full of advertisement so that players are forced to pay to remove them.

The new subgenre of battle royale shooter games has sparked a copyright case between two of the leading developers and their titles. Bluehole Studios, developers of Player Unknown's Battlegrounds has claimed that Epic Games' Fortnite stole their gameplay and weapon designs.
The trickiest part about this case is that Epic Games are also the creators of the Unreal Engine which both titles use which has caused a second discussion arguing whether Bluehole should have the rights to develop their game using the engine belonging the company they're pursuing legal action against.
